Getting Started as a Streamer on SVER
Setting up your stream on SVER takes about 10 minutes. This guide walks you through every step β from creating your account to going live with OBS Studio.
Step 1: Create Your Account
Head to sver.tv and click Sign Up. You can register with an email and password, or use one of our OAuth providers: Google, Discord, Twitch, Kick, YouTube, Steam, or GitHub.
After registration, you will be asked to choose a username and select your faction. Your faction choice shapes your experience on SVER β read our article on the faction system if you want to understand the differences between Myria, Aetheron, and Glint before committing.
Your initial faction selection is free, and you get three trial changes. After that, faction changes have a 30-day cooldown.
Step 2: Apply for Broadcast Access
SVER uses a lightweight approval process for broadcasting. Navigate to your Creator Dashboard and submit a broadcast application. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis β most are approved within 24 hours.
The approval process exists to prevent spam and ensure stream quality. It is not a growth gate: you do not need a minimum follower count, viewer average, or streaming history. If you are a real person who wants to stream, you will be approved.
Step 3: Get Your Stream Key
Once approved, go to Dashboard > Stream Key. You will see your stream key and the ingest server details:
- β’RTMP Server: rtmp://stream.sver.tv/live
- β’SRT Server: srt://stream.sver.tv:443
Copy your stream key. You will need it for your broadcasting software.
A Note on SRT vs RTMP
SVER supports both RTMP and SRT ingest protocols. If your internet connection is stable, either works fine. If you experience packet loss or want better reliability over unstable connections, SRT is the better choice β it handles network jitter and packet recovery natively.
SRT runs on UDP port 443 on SVER, which means it passes through most firewalls without issues.
Step 4: Configure OBS Studio
Open OBS Studio and go to Settings > Stream.
For RTMP:
- 1.Set Service to "Custom"
- 2.Set Server to
rtmp://stream.sver.tv/live - 3.Paste your stream key in the Stream Key field
- 4.Click Apply
For SRT:
- 1.Set Service to "Custom"
- 2.Set Server to
srt://stream.sver.tv:443?streamid=your-stream-key&latency=2000000 - 3.Leave the Stream Key field empty (the key is in the URL)
- 4.Click Apply
Replace your-stream-key with the actual stream key from your dashboard.
Recommended Encoding Settings
For most streamers, we recommend:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Video Bitrate | 4500-6000 kbps |
| Audio Bitrate | 160 kbps |
| Encoder | x264 or NVENC |
| Resolution | 1920x1080 |
| Framerate | 30 or 60 fps |
| Keyframe Interval | 2 seconds |
If your upload speed is limited, drop to 720p at 2500-3500 kbps. Quality matters more than resolution β a clean 720p stream looks better than a compressed 1080p stream.
Step 5: Set Your Stream Info
Before going live, visit Dashboard > Stream Settings to configure:
- β’Stream Title: Displayed to viewers and used in search. Keep it descriptive.
- β’Category: Select the category that matches your content (gaming, creative, IRL, music, etc.). Categories are linked to territories in the faction wars system, so choosing the right one matters.
- β’Tags: Add relevant tags to help discovery. The MAGnet system uses tags for recommendation matching.
Step 6: Go Live
Click "Start Streaming" in OBS. Your stream will appear on SVER within a few seconds. The platform automatically detects your stream via the ingest webhook and updates your channel status to live.
You can verify your stream is working by visiting your channel page or checking the Stream Manager in your dashboard. The Stream Manager shows real-time stats: viewer count, stream duration, chat activity, and encoding health.
After Going Live
Chat and Moderation
SVER's chat system is feature-rich out of the box. You get AutoMod (two-tier filtering for hate speech and spam), custom commands, emotes, slow mode, follower-only mode, and subscriber-only mode. Configure moderation settings at Dashboard > Moderation.
Emotes
Channel emotes are available immediately β you do not need a specific subscriber count to upload custom emotes. Your faction also provides faction-wide emotes that all members can use in any channel.
Clips and VODs
Streams are automatically recorded as VODs. Viewers can create clips from your stream, and viral clip mechanics help spread your content beyond your live audience.
Analytics
Check Dashboard > Analytics for detailed breakdowns of your stream performance: viewer graphs, chat engagement, follower growth, subscription metrics, and faction influence contribution. All data is updated in real-time.
Tips for New Streamers
- 1.Be consistent. The MAGnet discovery system rewards regular streaming with a consistency multiplier up to 1.3x. Even 3 sessions per week builds momentum.
- 2.Engage with your faction. Faction members discover each other naturally through the recommendation system. Being active in faction chat and community events increases your visibility.
- 3.Use a descriptive title and correct category. Discovery works best when the system knows what your stream is about.
- 4.Interact with chat. Viewers who feel acknowledged come back. SVER's chat system makes interaction easy with replies, pins, and custom commands.
- 5.Do not obsess over viewer count. SVER's discovery system surfaces creators based on community quality, not audience size. Focus on building something genuine.
Welcome to SVER. Choose your faction, go live, and build something real.
